To successfully complete the Lead Auditor courses, learners must receive a Pass score in both continuous evaluation and final assessment. The final assessment is a 2 hour closed-book (except the relevant standard) that will be held at the last day of session.
However, the Continuous evaluation is different. It is a formative assessment that will be held throughout the 5 day course with several audit related simulated exercises.
The Continuous Evaluation in the Lead Auditor Course is to evaluate the delegates on their understanding of the auditing concept and the ability to perform audit independently. Each delegate will be evaluated for 5 Days for better understanding. Continuous assessment provides day-to-day feedback on the student’s progress and their understanding on key skills and knowledge to perform audits.
Continuous assessment for delegates consists of exercises that includes interpreting the requirement of an audit, planning the audit, conducting the audit, generating audit findings, reporting and flowing up of audit and personal attributes and manner as an auditor.
Delegates get to understand the concept or requirement of an audit through the following: –
1. Auditing Leadership
2. Audit Operation
3. Role and Responsibilities – Audit parties, management, stages of audit
4. Auditing top management
5. Auditing role plays and NCR reporting
Once these activities are finished by our delegate, the performance of each delegate is scored by the tutor with timely and effective feedback.
Let us give an example of an Activity we perform in the QMS Lead Auditor course.
Activity # 14: Auditing – Role Play, NCR Reporting and Judgement
Learning Objective:Â
-
- Demonstrate the ability to implement the audit plan, use work documents and to follow audit trailsÂ
- Demonstrate the ability to manage audit interviews effectively, including the ability to formulate effective audit questions
- Demonstrate the ability to collect and verify appropriate audit evidence, including appropriate sampling.
- Write and grade nonconformity reports correctly
- Demonstrate the ability to evaluate audit evidence to correctly identify conformity and nonconformity with requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to prepare audit conclusions, including the extent of conformity of the management system, identification of positive audit findings in addition to nonconformity, and identification of potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
Time Allocation: 6 Hours
Method: Delegates will be divided into teams.
-
- Based on documents prepared in Exercise 2,3,4 and 5 with the help of Checklists, the delegates working in teams will conduct formal interviews with the members of the organisation.
- Tutor will act as an organisation team member (Auditee) and necessary documented information will be provided based on the case study supportive documents.
- Various departmental documents provided should be given as and when asked by the auditee for the verification and recording
- Tutors will create different scenarios to ensure all the members are involved.
- Also tutors will plan for interviews to be taken any time during activity to check their working of the audit process.
- Tutors also ensure the participation of the team members.
- Judgement of the NCR will be verified and the team to be guided for the correct identification of the requirements by the Tutor
All delegates will be given a simulated company QMS manual, forms, templates, records, procedures, NCR templates, etc. to complete this activity.
As you can see the level of depth this activity gets into and a simulated real world experience is created during the training session. This is why continuous evaluation plays a significant role in the Lead Auditor course.
Our QMS, OHSMS and EMS Lead Auditor training course mainly focuses on building your skills, not theoretical knowledge with PowerPoints!
