What is an Integrated Management System Certification?
The Integrated Management System (IMS) Auditor course is a combination of two or more ISO standards. For example, a construction company that wants the Integrated Management System (IMS) would have to combine two of these standards ( ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or ISO 45001) against the popular belief that IMS includes 3 standards (9001, 14001, and 45001).
How to become an IMS Auditor:
While several institutes including us, offer IMS training, CQI IRCA (the world’s largest and gold standard for lead auditor training and membership organization) neither offers training nor provides auditor membership for IMS.
As explained earlier, this is because any combination of two or more IRCA ISO standards becomes IMS. Therefore, to become IMS Auditor, you need to decide which standards you would like to focus on based on your experience, interest, and career aspiration.
You must also attend the IRCA lead auditor training for each, and obtain the certificate of achievement. For example, if you are interested in ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 45001 OHSMS, you will need to attend two LEAD auditor training, write the examinations, and pass!Â
3FOLD Training periodically runs IMS internal auditor training covering the 3 popular standards (QMS, EMS, and OHSMS). Please contact us if you need our training for your organization. However, if you would like to complete CQI IRCA Approved Training, you then need to complete all these courses one at a time.
Summary
The Integrated Management System certification is for organizations. Any organization wishing to get more than one ISO certification can opt for IMS. Certification bodies will award the IMS certification after auditing the company against 2 or more standards.
Please note that IMS Certification is NOT possible for individuals. If an individual is interested in gaining the IMS certification, he/she will need to complete the ISO courses one at a time.
Only then can they become an IMS Auditor for Certification bodies, or develop an Integrated Management System for the organization they are working for.
